Horizontal spiral centrifuge in environmental protection application mainly refers to dewatering the sludge produced in the process of industrial and civil sewage treatment. In the past, sewage treatment plants or related treatment plants used self sedimentation or belt filter press for sludge dewatering and thickening. The test results show that the moisture content of sludge is reduced from 98% to 80%, and its volume can be reduced by 10 times. Because of this, horizontal spiral centrifuge has been widely used and promoted in the field of environmental protection due to its inherent characteristics of large treatment capacity, automatic operation and good dewatering effect Wide.

The clarification of liquid phase in horizontal spiral centrifuge is determined by two factors: one is the effective centrifugal force acting on the liquid phase in the settling area of the drum; the other is the average residence time of the liquid phase in the settling area of the drum. Similarly, the moisture content of solid phase after dewatering by centrifuge is determined by two factors: the effective centrifugal force acting on the solid phase in the drum dewatering zone and the average residence time of the solid phase in the drum dewatering zone.

By adjusting the running state of the horizontal spiral centrifuge, the above factors can be controlled in a certain range to obtain better separation effect. In general, firstly, the rotating speed range of the drum is roughly set for the separated materials, and then the differential speed and overflow plate are adjusted according to the separation conditions of the centrifuge to obtain better separation effect.

Generally, the adjustment of differential speed and overflow plate has the following rules: smaller differential speed will reduce the moisture content of solid phase, but the clarity of liquid phase will decrease. The higher the differential speed, the higher the clarity of liquid phase, but the higher the moisture content of solid phase. The smaller inner diameter of overflow plate can improve the clarity of liquid phase, but the moisture content of solid phase will increase. The overflow plate with larger inner diameter will reduce the moisture content of solid phase, but the clarity of liquid phase will decrease.

Therefore, when the horizontal screw separator is mainly composed of liquid phase clarity and secondary solid phase moisture content, a deeper liquid pool depth should be used, and the differential speed should not be too small. When the solid coherence dryness is the main factor and the liquid clarity is the second, a shallow liquid pool depth and a small differential speed should be used.

In order to improve the working efficiency of horizontal spiral centrifuge, in the case of ensuring safety, when separating and processing materials with no corrosion or small corrosivity, the rotating speed of separation drum of horizontal centrifuge can be relatively increased; the large filtering area of the drum is conducive to improving the separation efficiency, efforts should be made to increase the filtering area in the drum of horizontal spiral centrifuge.
